What Equipment Selection Depends On
The same waste name can describe two very different streams. These are the factors we work through before recommending a duty category and configuration.
Material composition
What the stream is actually made of, including the proportions that change with the source.
Input form
Loose, bagged, baled, bundled, palletised or delivered on a conveyor.
Piece size
The largest single item the machine will realistically see, not the average piece.
Moisture
Wet material behaves differently in the cutting zone and through discharge and downstream handling.
Contamination
The type, size and frequency of incidental contaminants, disclosed during selection.
Feeding method
Manual, hopper, grab, loader or conveyor, and how consistent the loading is through a shift.
Operating hours
Batch work, single shift or extended and continuous running.
Output requirement
The size the next stage or the offtaker needs, which usually sets the target.
Downstream process
Screening, separation, granulation, washing, baling or thermal treatment.
Mixed waste may contain incidental contaminants, but their type, size and frequency must be disclosed during selection. Oversized metal, stone and prohibited foreign objects should be removed before feeding unless explicitly approved for the agreed machine configuration.
